Please place the items to be collected clearly visible at a through road before 8:30 a.m. Do not put them there on the preceding evening due to danger of theft. A subsequent collection service is available for bags not collected. The telephone number for this is on the bags. Dirty or torn clothes or worn-out shoes as well as cloth and material remnants should not be put in the bags. Our Partners Partners of our street collections such as Terre des homes (Aid to Children), PluSport Swiss (Sports for Disabled Persons), Swiss Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired and other non-profit organisations on the level of Cantons receive part of the profit from the collection for their important work. These annual contributions are a significant component of the budget of these institutions. The amount of money earned from the collection is published in local media. What happens with the collected items? The collected items are sorted and transported to regions where there is a market for second-hand clothes. Approximately 60% of the collected goods are worn again in poor countries, approximately 15% are turned into cleaning rags and about 20% are processed into pullovers, wool blankets, fleece and insulation material. Only 5% cannot be recycled and is disposed of respectively burned and consequently converted into energy. Co-ordination office The four big textile collection organisations in Switzerland (Contex, Satex, Solitex, Texaid) have set up a joint co-ordination office for street collections. The purpose is to avoid dual collections and to ensure sufficient time between one collection and the next. |
