    About us

CONTEX is a recycling company, which has been collecting old textiles and shoes in Switzerland and making them available for reuse or recycling since 1991.

Ecological ...

CONTEX introduced collection containers for old clothes and used shoes throughout Switzerland. More than 1,500 such collection sites are available for the population for continual disposal today. The known yellow containers are emptied at regular intervals and maintained professionally.

CONTEX also carries out conventional street collections for old clothes. It was also the first to use the dual-bag system; i.e., separate bags are distributed to households for clothes and shoes.

CONTEX contributes actively to environmental protection with the meaningful disposal of old textiles and consequently conservation of valuable raw materials.

Social ...

CONTEX gives part of the revenue derived from the collections to numerous organisations, which serve the public good on local, regional and national levels.

Partners are, for example:

  • Terre des hommes (Aid to Children)
  • Procap (Swiss Association of Disabled Persons)
  • PluSport (Sports for Disabled Persons)
  • Swiss Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired
  • And hundreds for larger and smaller institutions such as day care centers, youth organisations, women’s and mothers’ groups, first-aid organisations, hospital services, etc.

CONTEX has yearly paid about 1.5 million Swiss francs to non-profit organisations over the past years -> co-operation that pays and creates a lot of goodwill!

A service of the private sector ...

CONTEX provides a free service to the general population and consequently relieves the state of work. It does not receive any subsidies.

Last but not least, CONTEX creates numerous jobs domestically and in foreign countries with its collecting and processing of old clothes and used shoes
